Fontaine Bros. awarded the Culinary and Nutrition Center

The Springfield Public School system is a large and diverse community, with approximately 26,000 students, about 4,000 employees, and nearly 60 schools. The Culinary and Nutrition Center project is a state-of-the-art facility designed to support the SPS food service program expansion plan. The program includes producing and packaging food components to support the breakfast in the classroom, dinner, summer meals, and homebound student feeding programs, centralizing catering and vending services, cold and dry food storage. In addition, the farm to school program is being expanded to include local farm partnerships, school gardens, composting, field to freezer program, produce processing, and local purchasing and sustainability.
