The story behind Beal Elementary School's Mural Wall

Fontaine is proud to have completed the new two-story Beal Elementary School in Shrewsbury! We are excited to tell the story of the work behind the creative “Mural Wall”; a main focal point of the building located in the main lobby and throughout the school. Peter Reynolds, a world-renowned children’s author and illustrator was hired to provide personalized artwork to be utilized on a mural that catches your eye when you first enter the building. The process involved him providing the artwork to which Fontaine had laminated onto a plastic laminate surface. This surface was then mounted onto a substrate and made into panels that were installed onto the walls from the floor to the ceiling, and in some cases two-stories high. This new technology was a huge success for the school. At the end of the project during the ribbon cutting ceremony, Mr. Reynolds attended and provided a copy of his book for all the students and staff as a keepsake. The wall mural’s unique, creative aspect came full circle as Peter Reynolds did the original artwork piece for the old Beal School, tying the old into the new.
