Fontaine is proud to be a two-time recipient of the Springfield Regional Chamber Super 60 Awards, earning recognition in both 2024 and 2025. The Super 60 Awards honor the fastest-growing and most impactful businesses in Western Massachusetts based on revenue performance, job creation, and community engagement.

David Fontaine, Jr., our Chief Executive Officer, was honored as a member of the prestigious Business West 40 Under 40 Class of 2023. This recognition, awarded to young business and civic leaders in Western Massachusetts, celebrates his outstanding achievements, innovative approach, and significant contributions to the business world. His strategic vision and dedication have strengthened Fontaine’s presence in the region.

Liz Wambui, our Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, was named one of the Worcester Business Journal’s Outstanding Women in Business 2024. Since joining the Fontaine Team in 2021, Liz brought passion and purpose to her work by breaking barriers in the construction industry for women, veterans, and people of color while ensuring our workforce reflects the communities we serve. Her leadership has been instrumental in the success of The Fontaine Community Foundation, which has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support local nonprofits.

In 2022, Joel Kent, who was a Senior Project Manager at the time and now serves as our Chief Operating Officer, was named to Worcester Business Journal’s prestigious 40 Under 40 Class. This recognition highlighted him as one of Central Massachusetts’ rising business leaders. With over 1 million square feet of new public school construction under his leadership, Kent was recognized for his commitment to mindful construction and environmentally friendly building practices.

David Fontaine, Jr., our Chief Executive Officer, was named to Worcester Business Journal's Power 50 Class of 2020, an annual recognition of the most influential professionals shaping the Central Massachusetts business community. Dave earned this distinction for his leadership in driving Fontaine’s revenue growth and for spearheading the company’s expansion into Worcester with the opening of a new office in 2016.

Worcester South High Community School project was recognized with an Award of Merit in the K-12 Education category by Engineering News-Record as part of its New England Best Projects program. The award highlights the successful delivery of the new 360,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility in Worcester, Massachusetts — replacing a dated 1970s building with modern academic, vocational, and community spaces that support flexible teaching, special education, and workforce-oriented programs. Despite the complexity of building on a fully occupied site and navigating COVID-19 delays, the team completed the project on time and millions of dollars under budget, underscoring Fontaine’s commitment to quality, innovation, and community impact in education infrastructure.

Fontaine’s transformative redevelopment of 31 Elm Street in downtown Springfield was honored with the 2025 Mayor Thomas M. Menino Legacy Award from Preservation Massachusetts. This prestigious award recognizes catalytic projects that breathe new life into historically significant structures while fostering strong community partnerships. Widely regarded as one of the most important buildings in Springfield’s urban core, 31 Elm stands as a powerful example of adaptive reuse done right — preserving the city’s architectural legacy while positioning the property for long-term vitality. The project’s impact was celebrated in 2025, with Domenic J. Sarno commending the team for their leadership and commitment to revitalizing a landmark that will serve future generations.

Fontaine’s leadership role on the Doherty Memorial High School project was honored with an Award of Merit in the K-12 Education category by Engineering News-Record in its 2025 East Best Projects program. The recognition celebrates the successful delivery of a new 422,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility in Worcester, Massachusetts, built on a 20-acre site that remained fully operational throughout construction and executed with a carefully phased approach to maintain student and staff safety. The project team — including Fontaine Bros., Lamoureux Pagano Associates | Architects, and the Fontaine-Dimeo Joint Venture — delivered a forward-looking campus featuring energy-efficient systems and a design on track for LEED Gold certification, positioning Doherty as Worcester’s first carbon-negative school and a model for sustainable educational infrastructure.

Fontaine was honored with the prestigious Paul & Niki Tsongas Award from Preservation Massachusetts for its exceptional restoration and renovation of Berkshire Hall at Berkshire School. The award recognizes outstanding commitment to historic preservation, celebrating projects that protect and revitalize architecturally significant landmarks. Through meticulous craftsmanship and a deep respect for the building’s historic character, Fontaine successfully modernized Berkshire Hall while preserving its defining architectural features — ensuring the iconic campus centerpiece continues to serve students and the broader school community for generations to come.
