Completed in 1966, the Morrill Science Center is a four-building complex at the heart of UMass Amherst's academic core, built in phases beginning in the late 1950s to serve the university's growing College of Natural Sciences. The facility was designed to house research laboratories, lecture halls, and faculty offices for the biology, biochemistry, geosciences, and public health programs, reflecting the university's land-grant mission and its named honoree, Justin S. Morrill, author of the Morrill Land-Grant Colleges Act. Nearly six decades later, the complex remains a cornerstone of UMass Amherst's scientific teaching and research infrastructure.
