This four-story, nearly 130,000-square-foot facility provides state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories for the university’s biology, chemistry, physics, psychology, and pharmacy programs.
Prominent lecture halls with advanced audiovisual and sound systems are located on each of the top three floors, supporting large-group instruction and presentations.
The building is founded on rammed aggregate piers, with exterior materials including brick, precast concrete, glass, and aluminum. The roof combines flat and sloped membrane systems, with colored detailing that evokes a standing-seam copper appearance.
Designed for high performance, the building incorporates solar hot water panels, chilled beam HVAC systems, motion-sensor lighting, and high-efficiency boilers and fixtures to reduce energy use and environmental impact.
Located at a primary campus gateway, Fontaine carefully managed construction logistics on an active campus, coordinating off-site parking and tightly scheduled deliveries to minimize disruption.
