Crocker Elementary School

The new Crocker Elementary School in Fitchburg, MA is a 116,000 SF, two-story MSBA-funded replacement school designed to support modern 21st-century learning. Set on a wooded site, the building is carefully integrated into its natural surroundings, with views to dense tree cover and granite outcrops that help define a calm, connected learning environment.

The school provides flexible classrooms, administrative offices, a cafetorium, media center, art spaces, and a gymnasium organized around a clear central circulation spine that supports intuitive wayfinding and efficient movement. The cafetorium and media center function as key academic and community anchors, supporting both daily learning and broader public use.

Sitework includes grading, new parking areas, driveways, walkways, and landscaping, along with the abatement and demolition of the existing Crocker Elementary School after occupancy of the new building. Delivered through the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) program, the project also received the 2025 Mass Save Climate Leaders Award, recognizing its high-performance building systems and energy efficiency achievements.
