The William R. Peck Middle School project consists of the new construction of a 107,425-square-foot, two-story middle school in Holyoke. Developed in partnership with the Massachusetts School Building Authority, the $85.5 million project replaces an outdated facility with a modern, high-performance learning environment designed for today’s students.
As part of Holyoke’s transition to a dedicated middle school model, the new school supports approximately 550 students in grades 6–8 and features flexible classrooms, science labs, collaborative learning spaces, and a media center. The design prioritizes natural light, student well-being, and adaptable educational spaces that support a wide range of teaching styles.
The project builds on the success of the Richer Elementary School, reflecting a proven approach to K–12 school construction within the MSBA model school program. Constructed on the site of the former Peck Middle School, the project includes full demolition, new ground-up construction, and site improvements.
Currently under construction with completion scheduled for 2025, the new William R. Peck Middle School represents a major investment in public education in Holyoke. The project is being delivered with a strong focus on quality, schedule, and cost control, providing the community with a durable, energy-efficient school designed to serve future generations.
