The Franklin County Jail is 92,000-square-foot facility in Greenfield, MA. The two-story, freestanding building was designed to house 300 inmates. The design incorporated large windows throughout to reduce tension and humanize an otherwise institutional facility. The protection of wetlands was a critical issue during construction.
