Working with the Pioneer Valley Transit Authority and Wendel, this 278,000 SF Operations & Maintenance Facility in Springfield, MA centralizes bus storage, maintenance, and administrative operations for PVTA’s regional transit system. The facility supports approximately 150 fixed-route buses and includes extensive maintenance bays, fleet support areas, offices, training and conference rooms, and a modern dispatch and communications center.
Designed to replace an aging and undersized facility, the project improves operational efficiency, safety, and long-term transit capacity for the Pioneer Valley region. The campus includes structured bus circulation and parking, employee and visitor parking, EV-ready infrastructure, diesel fuel storage, emergency generators, and a communications tower.
The site also incorporates significant environmental improvements, including restored wetlands and stormwater management systems with infiltration basins. The project is targeting LEED Silver certification, reflecting its focus on sustainability, energy efficiency, and reduced environmental impact.
