Fontaine is serving as the general contractor for the new Whitman Middle School, a 138,605 square-foot facility in Whitman, Massachusetts. Designed to support approximately 675 students in grades 5–8, the three-story school reflects the district’s shift to a more cohesive middle school model and replaces an aging facility that no longer met today’s educational and infrastructure needs.
The new building will include modern classrooms, science labs, a gymnasium, cafeteria, auditorium, media center, and dedicated spaces for art, music, and technology. The project is being constructed on an occupied campus, requiring a carefully phased approach that allows the existing school to remain in use during construction.
Developed in partnership with Colliers Project Leaders and Ai3 Architects, the school is designed as a high-performance, energy-efficient facility that supports flexible learning and long-term community use. Once complete, it will provide a modern, durable environment built to serve the Whitman-Hanson Regional School District for decades.
