The new Auburn High School is a $35 million, 186,000-square-foot replacement facility designed to support 21st-century learning while transforming the student experience. Constructed on an occupied campus, the new school was built behind the existing building, allowing operations to continue uninterrupted.
At the core of the facility is a three-story, naturally lit atrium that serves as the main circulation spine and central gathering space, connecting academic areas with shared student spaces. Classrooms are arranged in a sweeping arc to maximize natural daylight, supported by clerestory windows, skylights, and exterior sun-shading elements.
The building includes a state-of-the-art auditorium, gymnasium with indoor walking track, and dedicated choral and music spaces with recording studios. Site development features a full athletic complex with synthetic turf fields for baseball, football, and soccer, reinforcing the school’s role as a community hub.
Strategic building placement and massing help buffer nearby highway noise, while thoughtful layout and open connections throughout the facility promote visibility, collaboration, and a stronger sense of community.
