This new $22 million Contemplative Center for the College of the Holy Cross provides a dedicated retreat facility for the College’s Jesuit-based programs of prayer, reflection, and spiritual renewal. Located on a 52-acre hilltop site in West Boylston, MA, the 33,800 SF facility features lodging for 60 guests, meeting space for up to 70 people, breakout rooms, an 1,800 SF chapel, dining and kitchen facilities, and support spaces for staff. Designed to take advantage of dramatic natural views, the building emphasizes simplicity and connection to the landscape through natural materials, including hardwoods and stone, and was developed to minimize maintenance and long-term operating costs.
