Raymond E. Shaw Elementary School
The Raymond E. Shaw School in Millbury, MA is a new 90,000 SF, two-story elementary school serving grades 3–6, replacing the original 1975-era facility. Located on a shared campus with Elmwood School, the new building was carefully sited to allow uninterrupted school operations during construction while improving district-wide capacity. Organized into grade-level learning neighborhoods, the school includes flexible and special education spaces that support inclusive, team-based instruction. A centrally located library, cafetorium, and gym serve both daily student use and after-school community programs. The second floor features STEM classrooms co-located with art spaces and rooftop outdoor learning areas. The project is LEED Gold certified, incorporating high-performance systems and sustainable design strategies that reduce energy use and connect learning to the surrounding natural landscape.
