West Springfield High School

West Springfield, Massachusetts

This project includes the construction of a 257,525-square-foot new high school, as well as the demolition of the existing high school.

The school is part of the MSBA’s Model Schools Program, which effectively adapts and reuses design elements from successful, recently constructed schools. This simplifies the design process, reducing the amount of time projects are in the design phase and lowering design fees.

The majority of the academic spaces are located in two four-story “pods.” These pods include central areas that serve a variety of teaching activities and disciplines, including large group instruction, a mini theater, language and computer labs, a television studio, and technology labs.
